Memorable Moments:
-As we welcome spring, we also welcome the opening of the best ice cream place ever, Sweet Melissa’s. It’s a small little hut in Ithaca that makes the BEST soft serve ice cream, and we had to go on opening weekend. I have gone at least once a week since its opening, and I am not mad about it.
-Every year in April, my mom and my aunt come to Ithaca and visit me for a weekend. This tradition started in my freshman year as a way for my mom and aunt to spend time with me and visit their alma mater. This tradition has always been really special to me, and this year was the last year (at least while I still go to Ithaca). We hung out with my friends, went to the spa, and my aunt even gave me a great haircut in the hotel. I always cherish this special little weekend in April.
-This month, two of my favorite artists released new albums on the same day, and I have never been happier. New Djo and Malcolm Todd have been playing NONSTOP! I even got The Crux on vinyl, which is so exciting.
-I went home for a weekend and it was so needed. I haven’t seen my puppies and fam since January, which is the longest I have ever gone without being home. I got to enjoy pretty spring weather, play with my pups, and hang out with my lovely fam. That weekend, I also got to go see my twin brother play baseball one last time. My whole family went, my girlfriend, my grandparents, and my brother’s girlfriend. It was so fun having everyone hang out and support my brother. I have watched him play baseball since I was 5, and the fact that it is over now makes me weirdly emo!
-The main reason I made the trip home was to stop at my girlfriend’s place in New Haven because I had a job interview! I will be moving in August and so been applying to lots of jobs. The interview went GREAT, and your girl may or may not be big girl employed now!
-April 26th is my birthday, and I had the best birthday celebration ever. My girlfriend came, and during the day we did lots of fun activities. We got brunch, went to the South Hill Forest Products open house(an open house showing how my peers make syrup and cute activities), checked out a vintage market, and went thrifting! Later that night, we all got dressed up, and all my friends came over. I bought lots of craft supplies and had all my friends make paper crowns. We then went out to bars in all our crowns. It was so magical and whimsical, and I felt so loved.
Monthly Reflection:
April is always so good to me. I got to soak up so much love from my people and feel so, so special. My habits this month were 1) to work on my skincare routine, 2) nightly meditation, and 3) Duolingo. I am going to be honest, team, I wasn’t on top of my habits this month. Usually, I would beat myself up about this but I find that I am actually not too bent out of shape about it. My month was so rich and full of amazing moments that I didn’t focus as much on being super rigid with my habits, and that is ok.
I may not have killed my habits, but I did accomplish my goals for the month. I wanted to have a fun and whimsical birthday, and I did just that. I decorated my entire home with paper chains and made crowns for my jellycats. I created a banner of baby pictures of me with cute hats. Everyone made beautiful and fun paper crowns, and it was a party that felt right out of my Pinterest board. I thrifted a bunch of shirts and bought a lot of fabric to create a handmade sewn shirt. This month, I worked on a shirt for the DJO concert I am going to in May. I sewed “Djo Mama” on the shirt, and it turned out so cute. Lastly, I wanted to check out a local Ithaca event. On my birthday, there were SO many events going on. The local vintage store in town threw a vintage market, which I got to check out, which was so fun. I got a cute shirt that I wore for my birthday party. There was also a record fair and a new thrift store that opened up.
April, thank you for taking such sweet care of me and getting me ready for my last month of college.
xoxoxoxoxo,
allie
